"The Help to Buy scheme was perfect for us."

Craig and Rachael Cookson

After both renting apartments and a town house together, Craig and Rachael, 25 and 24 have just moved into their first home together; a four bedroom semi-detached home on the new Poppy Grange Development.

After previously renting apartments, the couple decided that the time was right to look for a long term family home that met their needs. They both wanted a property in Leeds, as Craig is studying for his PhD in Sports Science and Rachael needed to be close for work.

A new build home was an ideal option as they did not want to spend further money renevating an older house to meet their needs. With their dream wedding taking place in November, finances were an important factor in deciding which property to buy as their perfect first home.

"Our wedding is in November and we cannot wait! We wanted a new-build family home where the commute into Leeds is simple. We've rented older apartments and it would be a lot of work to buy an older house to get it exactly how we want it."

Craig and Rachael were introduced to the Help to Buy scheme whilst house hunting around the Leeds area. Rachael's aunty also had success purchasing a property through the scheme themselves, so they knew first hand how the Help to Buy scheme could help them. Rachael said

"The Help to Buy scheme was perfect for us. It allowed us to buy an affordable home that was a perfect first step on to the property ladder. I cannot reccomend Help to Buy enough!"
