After renting for 7 years, Andrew & Stacy buy their forever home.

Andrew & Stacy

We caught up with Andrew who recently moved into his new home after using the Help to Buy scheme. Andy and his wife Stacy have been renting since they got married so started to think about buying their first home together.

"We had been renting from the day we got married, a whole 7 years! We had always lived life in the fast lane and never thought about saving for a deposit to buy our first home. With house prices so high, we knew we'd probably have to save for a few years before getting on the property ladder."

But then the couple drove past a brand new Keepmoat development and it caught their eye. "We had no intensions of actually buying a home, but we wanted to take a look."

The Keepmoat team explained that Help to Buy was available at the site and they'd only need a 5% deposit for one of the houses on the development.

"We didn't realise Help to Buy was available at the site. So once we realised we only needed a 5% deposit, we put down a reservation! Needing a lower deposit meant we could bag this house, rather than saving for years and years and buying an older home."

We asked Andy about his thoughts on the scheme and how he found the process.

"We have friends who have used the scheme and its worked really well for them. So we thought, why not! We had absolutely no problems. Its was a speedy service from the Help to Buy team."

"Its so user friendly. Its simple to understand and with it being so hard to actually get onto the property ladder nowadays, Help to Buy is the best way to quickly get onto it!"

The couple are now settled into their 2 bedroom new build home and are busy buying new furniture!
